Specializing in authentic old-world Italian recipes and conveniently located off I-96 in New Hudson, Bon-A-Rose Banquet Facility is the perfect place to host any private party of 25 – 70 guests. The two-story house in which we operate was built in 1853 and is the oldest brick house in Lyon Township. It provides a family-friendly, warm and rustic atmosphere perfect for hosting holiday parties, office luncheons, birthdays, anniversaries, showers and more.
The house was purchased in 1985 by my parents Jerry and June Tyrrell of New Hudson and converted to an Italian-American restaurant in 1989. The business is named in honor of my mother’s late parents, Bonaventura and Rosalia Maviglia, who immigrated from Calabria, Italy and Palermo, Sicily in the early 1900’s, met in New York and were married. The auto industry brought them to Michigan; and in the 50’s, they opened a small diner at Trinity and 5 Mile in Detroit, which they named Rosie’s Sip n’ Nip.
It was there that my mother became passionate about serving the public and was inspired to run her own family restaurant as an adult. Bon-A-Rose Italian-American Restaurant was completely family-operated until 1997 when my mom, sister Kellie and myself made a group decision to close its doors in order to focus more on family life.
In 2008, with the recession in full force and many family members and friends experiencing lay-offs, we decided it was time to get back to business. We started off with catering and began manufacturing our recipes for retail sale. Both our House Salad Dressing & our Marinara Sauce can now be found on the shelves of over 75 stores across Southeast Michigan including the Kroger, Hiller’s and Plum Market chains. We are currently in the process of preparing our Apple Sauce and Pickled Beets for retail sale as well. All of our products are handmade in the same commercial kitchen where we continue to provide wholesome and delicious meals for our banquet, catering and carry out customers.
We are now open for carry out Tuesday - Saturday from 4 pm - 9 pm. Closed on Sunday and Monday. Catering is available by appointment.
At Bon-A-Rose, our mission is to make your event a success. If you are looking for a unique venue to host your next event, feel free to stop by any time. You’re always welcome at our house!
